Day 1 - Frankfurt, Germany

See the pictures too!

We touched Frankfurt at 10:15 (the time we would have if we had the later flight.) Then we claimed our luggage and headed toward the train where we went to the main station. It’s one of those huge stations and has beautiful architecture on the outside. After storing our big bags (with difficulty), Gionet’s group and another’s headed out into the city. The buildings around there were modern and some were enormous. They had some outdoor market areas too. After passing by some statues (with one of a man grabbing his crotch, no one wanted to take a picture), we ended up in downtown and split up for a while. The architecture there is beautiful too, and the churches, oh the churches. After finding essentials like ATM, bathroom, and some minor shopping, we went into an amazing church. It was filled with paintings and sculptures of Christ. This huge building also had gigantic pipes. I wonder what they sound like. (Oh, this was with Ashley and Amanda).

Next we gathered and headed to the river where there were swans, live music, and a huge ferris wheel. We crossed the bridge and split up to eat. We wandered along the river and then into the building area where we found bars and restaurants (German-Spanish mix menus). We found horse on the menu too. But we decided not to eat there and one person in our group was throwing a fit. Wandering back we picked up food for dinner and breakfast at a little market. Then to the river for bratwurst (which I don’t like) and coke (!). Soda is expensive here. But we did find some beautiful bongs and a guy smoking one. Alter we came back and took a picture of them.

Then we gathered and crossed the bridge. Ashley, Amanda, and I picked up some pudding (ate with fingers) and went to the red light district. It wasn’t night so it wasn’t very exciting but it was still entertaining. I took pictures. Oh and I told Amanda to get money from an ATM with the outline of a naked lady on it. We even saw some prostitutes trying to coax some guys in. (They’re legal and pay taxes). Then to the train station for the WC (70 cents).

There everyone met and waited around, rested, and drank lots of water (it was pretty hot that day). In groups, people went to get their Eurail passes verified and then we waited for the train that was 5 min long and then onto a nicer train to Munich which was 3 hours long. By then I was so tired (as were others) that I slept most of the way.

We arrived in Munich at a little after 22:00 or so. We got on a Harry Potter train but got the main sleeper cars. Our compartment is tiny with six bunks. The group was Amanda, Ashley, Matt, Alex D., Alex B., and me. We had so much fun that night with pillow fights, jokes, and music while we felt like sardines. We were probably the craziest group, we kept flashing our lights and tried to get a rhythm going. We went to sleep probably near 2:00 in the morning.

I could probably type more than I could write so this is brief.

We are in Italy now I think.
